Music for Moving Images Vol 4

Music for Moving Images Vol 4
“Music to an Imaginary Film”

Artwork by Imaginary Foundation

This is our fourth compilation, which includes some of our favorite artists and showcases the wide range of music we like at Three Sixty Records.
Album artwork by Imaginary Foundation was inspired and created after we sent our friends at IF the demo album to enjoy. We liked the artwork so much when we saw it, we asked if we could use it for the cover art, and they graciously said yes! Creativity full circle.

Here at Three Sixty we like to think of ourselves as a small boutique label. We don’t like genres, so you will find it hard to put us in any one specific style. We started making and releasing music in 1995, and created this compilation as a way to highlight our music to the Film and TV industry.

If you want any information on a particular artist please email us at. press@threesixtyrecords.net

Thinnen – Missing EP

We love Thinnens unique style of electronic music, deep reverbs, crisp beats and songs that ebb and flow till they build into bliss.
This is Thinnens Debut release on Three Sixty.

“Not one for constraining himself to one genre, Thinnen’s productions have slowly garnered the interest of fellow music lovers and producers alike. Incorporating influences from hip hop, rock, film scores, and the ever expanding electronic music scene, he has been carving out his own sound with signature synths and percussion. Electronic music has always been a consistent interest to Thinnen over the years, but only when he realized people were making music on computers in their bedrooms, did he set out to make music himself.

8 years later and a handful of tracks released, he is looking forward to what the future has in store.”

Phole – Pleasing

“Phole writes melody driven jazz trip hop that is lovingly produced and manages to allow you to either pay attention or drift off.”

Phole
Is a producer and pianist from Groningen, in the North of the Netherlands. At 18 he got his first piano lessons and a year later started to produce downtempo beats as “Phole”. Inspired by the piano lessons Phole became interested in jazz, which you can hear in his first trip-hop EP “Pleasing.” At the moment Phole is inspired by more experimental music, and has created a unique collaboration with “Brombaer” called Globo, Since spring 2011 he is working on a new album called “Philosophy of opposite land” which will be finished around Autumn 2012.

Metaform – Electric Eyes (Studio Brussels Remix)

Metaform – Electric Eyes – Studio Brussels Remixes

Sometimes while looking for music for the radio show I find these gems. This time it was a Studio Brussels re-work of the Metaform track Electric Eyes. With over 1.1 million plays on Last FM alone, it’s safe to say Metaform’s first two releases have gone down very well.

Metaform (born Justice Aaron) is an American music producer, musician, and songwriter, who gained Insta-respect with the release of his highly acclaimed debut album “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants.” In 2010, he released a 2nd album entitled “The Electric Mist.” The track Electric Eyes is from this Release, with Studio Brussels playing around in the half time, creating a classic indie dubstep styled re-work.

Jack Dey aka Studio Brussels is a 25 year old Scottish Producer, DJ, Remixer & Musician who performs under the aliases Kool Roskii (Originals) & Studio Brussels (Remixes, DJ Sets).  Based in Aberdeen, he released a selection of remixes under the Studio Brussels name in late 2009 – 2012 of artists including Yeasayer, Kavinsky, Muse, Amanda Palmer, Reel 2 Real, John Martyn, Baby’s Gang, Lady Gaga producer Space Cowboy, which garnered frequent press attention around the world and tens of thousands of downloads, and three times in the Top Ten most popular songs chart on the worlds biggest music blog aggregator The Hype Machine.

Jimmy The Fingers – I’m Only Breathing – One Sheet

Born under a bad sign between a rock and a hard place, Jimmy soon hit the skids and took to loitering outside the local chip shop in his cape, playing his demo on an old ghetto blaster whilst scrabbling around for tit-bits and narrowly avoiding kebab meat thrown at him for trying to drink peoples beer. Darkhorse AKA Graham Shrimpton of Three Sixty Records heard the tape, found him covered in chips in a nearby dumpster, dusted him down, and discovered the kid actually had some talent. Taking him on and producing his debut album for release on Three Sixty Records. Graham co-produced the Grammy winning album Global Drum Project. The Bristol, San Francisco connection was made.

“Imagine a dark bar with Prince and Beck conversing over cider, as Frank Zappa and Jack Johnson are taking bets in the corner, dirty electro is playing on the jukebox in the background and you’ve got the Jimmy The Fingers sound.” 360

In his youth Jimmy busted out toons under the monikers Superdense Child and Zooface, and as a DJ has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Afrika Bambaata, Radio One’s Breezeblock show, Rahzel, Krafty Kuts, The Herbaliser, Fatboy Slim, Bonobo, and many more. He played keys in bands with Quantic, TM Juke, and Alice Russell from blossoming Brighton label Tru Thoughts. Then he found out he could sing, so he struck out on his own. Nowadays he works live with Kaoss Pads, synths and a cape.

“Jimmy The Fingers writes about life as he sees it; a joyous and just plain silly occasion, marred only by the wonders of temptation and the melancholy. His musical stylings ever changing, he’s always one step ahead of the kids.” 360

Space Funghi Project Elektrik Psilosybe Experience

“Space Funghi Project Sound like a night out listening to Red Holt, Miles Davis and Malo Playing together, with a long cocktail session in the Mos Eisley Bar.”

Album Notes

With an abstract flow, reminiscent of Miles Davis after a long night on cocktails, playing over Red Holt, in the Mos Eisley Bar. The unique programming and blending of the live instrumentation (drums, bass, guitar and sax.) mixes many different styles and moods together.

The result is a hybrid of electro/ lounge/ ambient/ drumn’bass/ fusion and jazz (now thats a lot of genres all in one).

Their music helps paint a picture of spectacular sunsets in the bands’ native sunny Mexico. In fact, the music is like a visual kaleidoscope that takes the audience through a fusion of sounds and sights(try it on good headphones!).

Space Funghi Project begins in 2001, when all the members were playing on a Mexican TV show as a sessions musicians , they would get together and jam a bit in between shows, these jams lead to Rodrigo booking a jam out session in PAC Audio Studios, where the band worked on playing live human played loops for hours and recorded with 2 ambiental microphones. There were a total of 20 recorded sessions, then Dr. Panic spent 1 year trying to fuse the electronic psychedelic sounds together with the human touch. The result is the sonic experience that is Elektrik Psilocybe Experience!

Artist Bio

Sr Mandril was born in 2000 when Germán González and Ramsés Ramírez decided to mix their musical ideas. The resulting sound has electronic undertones mixed with organic instruments creating a sonic image of colors, sounds and influences that go from acid jazz and ambient to latin. Sr Mandril spend a lot of time on the road at various festivals and venues around South America, also performing at the Festival for International Jazz in Montreal in 06, and 08.

After releasing their debut album to great reviews by the music media, Sr. Mandril follow up with their strong new release Terragroove. It was recorded and produced at Media Luna in Mexico by Ramsés Ramírez and mixed by Ramsés Ramírez and Gerry Rosado. This new album again is a fusion of genres covering acid jazz, funk, folk and rock with electronic and latin percussion.

“We could just say how great we feel this album is, but it’s better you hear for yourself, just how far this band has come since its debut album.” 360

FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE JAZZ DE MONTREAL

(THIS IS THE SOUND OF MEXICO RIGHT NOW) Sr. Mandril have a goal: merge electro elements with thoroughly live guitar, bass, keys and percussion. The payoff: a crossbreed of acid jazz, ambient, lounge, trip hop and house with latin rhythm and flair. This is the sound of Mexico right now.

XLR8R Mag
Mexico City’s Sr Mandril lives up to its district’s new global reputation on this experimental effort. Fronted by Germán González and Ramsés Ramírez, this group’s future-jazz sound bridges programmed and live instrumentation for a freeform output that never quite follows one steady sonic path. It’s no wonder Sr. Mandril was such a huge hit at Montreal’s Jazz Fest in 2006-these guys thrive on improvisation. On any given track, one can expect to hear a new amalgam-“El Otro Joe,” for one, features elements of soulful house, Latin rock, and jazz. Because of Sr. Mandril’s jam-band style, though, these tunes may be better enjoyed when played on the stage.
