Sr Mandril bio

Posted by 360 Records On January - 27 - 2009

smimage_bio_windowSr Mandril was born in 2000 when Germán González and Ramsés Ramírez decided to mix their musical ideas. The resulting sound has electronic undertones mixed with organic instruments creating a sonic image of colors, sounds and influences that go from acid jazz and ambient to latin. Sr Mandril spend a lot of time on the road at various festivals and venues around South America, also performing at the Festival for International Jazz in Montreal in 06, and 08.

After releasing their debut album in 2005 on CD with great reviews by the music media, Sr. Mandril follow that up with their strong new release named Terragroove. It was recorded and produced at Media Luna in Mexico by Ramsés Ramírez and mixed by Ramsés Ramírez and Gerry Rosado. This new album again is a fusion of genres covering acid jazz, funk, folk and rock with electronic and latin percussion. We could just say how great we feel this album is, but it’s better you hear for yourself, just how far this band has come since its debut album.

“With an excellent mix of lounge and acid jazz, Sr Mandril conquered the audience in both presentations at the 27th edition of the Montreal International Jazz Festival. Ramsés Ramírez and Germán González captivated the audience with their music…”

FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL DE JAZZ DE MONTREAL

(THIS IS THE SOUND OF MEXICO RIGHT NOW) Sr. Mandril have a goal: merge electro elements with thoroughly live guitar, bass, keys and percussion. The payoff: a crossbreed of acid jazz, ambient, lounge, trip hop and house with latin rythym and flair. This is the sound of Mexico right now.

Jimmy The Fingers bio

Jimmy The Fingers is new to the Three Sixty Stable. He is a bit of an enigma, but we love his music. We found him outside a Fish and Chip shop.

His first release on Three Sixty will be the single Grace out March 10th.

The Diary of Jimmy The Fingers LP, coming soonish.

Available on itunes, emusic, Beatport, Dj Download and many fine retail services.

The Debut single from Jimmy The Fingers is positive message to all the girls out there, in a way only Jimmy The Fingers could do. The Single comes with remixes from The Melovskys of Mexico City and Darkhorse from San Francisco.

Look out for the increasingly popular video to the single shot by Steve Glashier at Nothing To See Here productions, with a little help from a lot of friends, and fast becoming a hit on youtube

Born under a bad sign between a rock and a hard place, Jimmy soon hit the skids and took to loitering outside the local chip shop in his cape, playing his demo on an old ghetto blaster whilst scrabbling around for titbits and narrowly avoiding kebab meat thrown at him. Darkhorse of Three Sixty Records heard the tape, found him covered in chips in a nearby ditch, dusted him down, and discovered the kid actually had some talent, taking him on and producing him for release on Three Sixty.

Imagine Prince and Beck fighting over cider, Frank Zappa and Jack Johnson taking bets in the corner, dirty electro’s playing in the background and you’ve got the Jimmy The Fingers sound.

In his youth Jimmy busted out toons with his equally greasy mates under the monikers Superdense Child and Zooface, and as a DJ has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Afrika Bambaata, Radio One’s Breezeblock show, Rahzel, Krafty Kuts, The Herbaliser, Fatboy Slim, Bonobo, and many more. He played keys in bands with Quantic, TM Juke, and Alice Russell from blossoming Brighton label Tru Thoughts. Then he found out he could sing, giving two fingers to the lot of em. Nowadays he works live with Kaoss Pads, synths and a cape. Jimmy The Fingers writes about life as he sees it: a joyous and  just plain silly occasion, marred only by the wonders of temptation and melancholy. His musical stylings ever changing, he’s always one step ahead of the kids.

Jonny Alford bio

Armed with an acoustic guitar, a mandolin and a pot of gravy granules for percussion, Jonny Alford has produced an album of timeless uplifting songwriting. With tinges of folk and country but without the indulges of either, Jonny’s songs have a simplistic beauty which speaks for themselves. His music is the perfect soundtrack to this summer with its sun soaked harmonies and lifting melodies. Jonny’s music has already been used on tv by the BBC/PBS series Monarchy: The Royal Family at work. Which is in the top 10 DVD sales in the UK at the moment, in the documentary Freedom Fuels by Mofilms and  by Apple for its Telluride Film festival podcast about the film festival.

A message from Jonny
“I started recording early. There’s a tape of me playing ‘Peggy Sue’ aged 3 years old. I studied composition at Coventry and then at Birmingham. Coventry being the inspiration for the song ‘Wainbody Ave’ – it was the road that led to the college and it had the freakiest trees all the way up it. The ones that have had the branches cut thick and straight so they look awkward and stunted yet strangely imposing. The ones I’ve drawn are a bit friendlier looking than the real ones. At Birmingham I played a lot of Gamelan music, which is good for the soul and gentle on a hangover. For most of my time as a student I kind of forgot about writing songs and mainly wrote contemporary classical music, finished my degree then immediatley returned to writing simple guitar music, oh well…Somewhere along the line I also played with the Birmingham band Delta for about a year. I appear briefly on the album ‘Hard Light’. Since then I’ve been doing a few gigs around London, Reading and Bucks, often with Chris, Dave and Steve(the band) backing me. ENJOY.”

Electro 7 bio

Posted by 360 Records On January - 26 - 2009

e7image_bio_windowElectro 7 are an interesting mixed bag. A Mexican, Cuban and Italian combine to create the sounds of Cuba merged with Electronica, Reggae, Hip Hop and Drum & Bass and then twisted into pop music!

“The idea behind the band is to create soulful, contemporary Cuban music while experimenting with electronic sounds.”

Electro 7 have been around a few years, but it wasn’t until band leader Dr Panic hooked up with long time friend and traditional Cuban musician, Raul Oviedo, that their sound started to take shape. They then bought in pop producer Paolo Marcellini and the band was complete.

All three have been very busy recording and touring musicians, that had other band projects taking up their time. But in the last year the focus has been on this exciting new band and they are quickly picking up a fan base in Mexico and around the world.

The sound is still very authentic and at times is pure Cuban, and  really hits the spot. A mix of exotic Latin rhythms and vocals from sun bleached, rum soaked Havana back streets with cool, contemporary, electronic, urban sounds from Mexico City’s burgeoning dance music culture.

sfpimage_bio_window“With an abstract flow, reminiscent of Miles Davis after a long night on cocktails, playing over Red Holt, in the Mos Eisley Bar. “

The unique programming and production of their music, along with the blending of live instrumentation (drums, bass, guitar and sax), mixing many different styles and moods together, creates the resulting hybrid of electro/ lounge/ ambient/ drumn’bass/ and jazz(now thats a lot of genres all in one), but you have to hear it to, for yourself. Their music helps paint a picture of the spectacular sunsets in the bands’ native sunny Mexico.  All trained musicians (and you can here that down to the drums), these guys met while working on a TV show in Mexico. During the break when they jammed they had an idea that now is The Space Funghi Project.

Space Funghi Project create a unique sound, with great production, that lays somewhere in-between Amon Tobin and Underworld.

The Furze bio

tfimage_bio_window When 4 Blokes from Maidenhead in England found each other in school it was kismet. The Furze… were born. Inspired by those who pioneered before them… The Furze transformed their collective influences along with their own original offerings to create a sound impossible to pigeonhole.  This band will blow you away with their hard earned reputation for eclectic edgy creativity and an unforgettable style that has earned them the accolade of “…One of our most effervescent pop bands…’Stealin’ Beats’ sets camp midway between Air and The Strokes, knocks out a fizzy pyjama party pop masterpiece”  NME. A testament to why The Furze repeatedly transform bystanders into hardcore fans, and it was The Furze infamous live sound that ignited what was to follow…

“The sound fluctuates between sheer venom spitting rock to the more subdued morning after, lazy day anthems. spine tingling, awe inspiring, that’s-exactly-how-I-feel music.” (’04)

Then known by another name, the four that is the The Furze released GOLD DUST NOISE (’02).  A collaboration with Ignition Records (Oasis and Mercury Rev), and producer Jim Abbiss (Bjork, Sneaker Pimps, U.N.K.L.E., DJ Shadow, Kasabian). The early release E.P. “STEALIN BEATS”,  was acclaimed by Radio One and NME as “Single of the week”… a force to be reckoned with.

tf_art_skToured endlessly in the U.K playing along side a huge variety of acts from early Aqualung, Feeder and Kaiser Chiefs to The Darkness as well as playing many festivals and headline sets affirming them as “one of the best live acts on the scene” Sir Bob Geldof.   The next step was a short tour in California … beginning with a charity gig at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and wrapping up in L.A. by headlining at the famed Troubadour and dropping in to support the late legendary Elliot Smith. As well as numerous guest appearances, other projects have found them writing the sound tracks for films ‘Happily Even After  by San Franciscan moviemaker, Unsu Lee. And ‘Hello You’; a full length feature film from highly acclaimed director, John Keats.

Konami approached  the boys for a track and used “Stealin Beats” for the first Playstation 2 dancing game ‘Dancing Stage Megamix’, which has sold over 500,000 copies worldwide,  and started a worldwide craze. Half the album was used for the award winning Channel 4 comedy series ‘Teachers’ series 2 & 3. Apple inc. also approached us for music to use in projects, for things like ‘Logic Pro’ and Final Cut Pro, their music and video footage is now being used in Apple’s promotional material.

A combination of The Furze well earned experience, loyal fans and a do it yourself style, has realized the release of 4 singles , two albums, an EP of demos; “SKELETON” (rare) which marked the Launch of their own record label ‘Cagey Records’.

Kid Galahad bio

Posted by 360 Records On January - 23 - 2009

kgimage_bio_windowThe abandoned car belonging to the band Kid Galahad was found in a car park along the coast of South East Cornwall. The car was found the morning after a gig the band had played in High Wycombe. It seems they left the gig and drove straight to Cornwall due to recording commitments. A search of the immediate area, especially in the pubs and strip clubs turned up nothing. A spokesman for the band said “it’s like they just vanished.” All that was found in the car was a pair of Wallace and Gromit Boxer shorts and a tape in the player of their Triumph Herald. It was reported that on the night of their disappearance there were strange lights in the sky over Cornwall and locals report hearing strange noises.??The Tape was turned over to us here at Three SIxty Records in the USA via it’s long standing relationship with the band by the bands estate controllers.??As a tribute to the Band that was Kid Galahad we have mastered the music found on the Tape and are releasing the music that was found.?A set of recordings that you will agree defines the talented song writing abilities of a band that will be missed.??A history of the band??Individually creative with a thirst for musical perfection and knowledge, it was not until the four school friends (Ash, Cavey, Paul and Wookie) came together as Kid Galahad that their creative spark was fully ignited.

After some time spent doing the inaugural lap on the live circuit, Kid Galahad were snapped up by independent label, Ignition Records. This meeting of artistic minds resulted in the genesis of their debut album, Gold Dust Noise. This album received critical acclaim by the music press and more importantly the (ever increasing) mass of Kid Galahad fans. Though the relationship with Ignition is no more, the last 24 months have probably been amongst the busiest for Kid Galahad. ??Kid G a.k.a Kid Galahad recorded and released their first album in 2001 called GOLD DUST NOISE .  A collaboration with Ignition Records (Oasis and Mercury Rev ), and producer Jim Abbiss (Bjork ,Sneaker Pimps ,U.N.K.L.E., DJ Shadow).  The album was critically well received with the E.P. STEALIN BEATS , acclaimed by BBC Radio One and NME as “Single of the week”.  ??

Kid G have toured the U.K playing along side a huge variety of acts like Oasis , Supergrass ,The Darkness ,Marillion to the Kaiser Chiefs & Kings of Leon , as well as headlining many sets, affirming Kid G as “one of the best live acts on the scene” – Sir Bob Geldof .?   ?They have been to the USA twice once for a short tour in California … beginning with an Aids charity gig in Golden Gate Park, SF, and in L.A. by headlining at the famed Troubadour and dropping in to support the legendary Elliot Smith (R.I.P).  ??The other time was to team up with film makers Hotbed, to score the film, Happily Even After out on DVD in November 2005, starring Jason Behr, Marina Black and Fay Masterson, Directed by Unsu Lee, produced by Paul Barnett.??Latest projects include “Happily, Even After” (Hotbed), scoring & appearing in the movie “Hello You” directed by John Keates as themselves, landing a track “Stealin Beats” on the Konami  game “Dancing Stage Megamix.“ The Konami PS2 game has sold well over 500,000 copies globally. Other TV credits are; Eastenders (BBC1/PBS), Teachers (ITV/BBC America), Good Girls Don’t (Oxygen/BBC2) , Burton Snowboards (NBC) and Apple Computers(web).  ???

Runaways UK bio

Posted by 360 Records On January - 23 - 2009

rukimage_bio_windowAJ Kwame and Joseph 2 Grand are the Runaways UK, a duo who have spent their 17 year partnership on the run from musical mediocrity. The pair met in Brighton in 1991, forming the visionary outfit RPM (or Revolution Per Minute) a year later. RPM released a string of singles on the fledgling Mo Wax imprint, and toured Europe alongside James Lavelle and DJ Shadow. AJ’s wide- ranging musical abilities and Joe’s deck wrecking skills leant RPM a unique edge as a plethora of ‘Trip hop’ groups rose in their wake. In 1995 AJ & Joe changed both name and label, becoming the Runaways UK and finding a new home in Ultimate Di-lemma Recordings in the UK and Three Sixty Records in the USA. Highly acclaimed singles led the way to their debut LP Classic Tales, a musical tour de force that was the culmination of the Runaways UK quest to forge a truly British hip-hop sound. The album featured striking cover art in the form of a painting of a calming, typically English pastoral scene. This attention to presentation has been carried over to Progress, their 2nd album, where the duo have enlisted the help of the Turner Prize winning artist Chris Ofili in exclusively providing a unique cover artwork. This album also features a diverse collection of very special guests Masta Ace, Iriscience, J zone, Tiye Phoenix, Sylvia Powell and Matt Cooper(Outside). The Runaways UK and their music have travelled worldwide and forged relationships with a host of like-minded artists. Their golden remix touch has graced tracks from DJ Zinc, Doctor L and Emiliana Torrini, Cyclops 4000 Sir Menelik/Scaramanga/Chewbacca Uncircumcised etc), Mos Def and Talib Kweli, Kid Loco, Killer Priest, Flash and the Pan, Belles of Monica, Pressure Drop. And exclusive tracks for labels Catskills, Blue Juice, Grand Central and Nuphonic and Three Sixty Records.
